Despite a successful match fishing career, in which he won many open matches, the company founder never considered himself ‘just’ a match angler. Having bagged bream to 12lb 3oz, perch to 3lb 9oz, barbel to 10lb 12oz, chub to 6lb 1oz, tench 8lb 3oz, roach to 2lb 12oz and carp 32lb, David is equally at home fishing for big fish.

Today he describes himself as a pleasure angler and says: “I’ve become a bit of a traditionalist. I like my river fishing and the idea of fishing the stick float still does it for me. Catching big roach on the float, the smell of maggots, just being there: it still doesn’t change, even after all these years.”
